Carl Sandburg National Historic Site

Carl Sandburg National Historic Site

Carl Sandburg National Historic Site is located in Flat Rock, near the Village, just 4 miles south of Hendersonville. Learn about this American poet, historian, author, lecturer by taking a tour of his house. The house shares Sandburg`s life as a writer, journalist, folk singer, social activist and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and biographer. Stroll around the pond and then down to the barns where you can pet their famous goats. One of our favorite Sunday outings is hiking to the top of Glassy Mountain for an impressive view of the mountain range. Special events are held throughout the year including Summer plays at the new ampitheater and a folk music on Memorial Day. The park is open 9-5 pm, 7 days a week. Closed some holidays. Its a wonderful day outing for the whole family or maybe a quiet time in nature.

Jump Off Rock

Jump Off Rock is a scenic overlook that provides a panoramic view of rolling pastures the Blue RIdge and Pisgah mountain ranges. Jump OfF Rock also holds an Indian legend that has been passed down for many, many years. Located about 5 miles from downtown at the end of Laurel Park Hwy in the town of Laurel Park. Open daily sunrise to sunset. No admission Charge. This is a popular tourist attraction, a wonderful vista to visit, just a windy road up to the area.

Pearson`s Falls

Pearson`s Falls

Pearson`s Falls, Saluda This botanical, bird and wildlife sanctuary is comprised of 268 acres of native forest, granite, spring-fed streams and a moderate 1/4 mile trail to a 90 ft. waterfall. We hiked into the waterfall recently, June 2019, enjoyed the peaceful setting and the trees! Some of them labeled with their species names. Easy to get to from Hendersonville or Saluda.
